Tool(s) Used in Development: Articulate Storyline, Audacity

Challenges: A local restaurant has experienced increased employee turnover in the last three years and, as a result, is spending more time training new kitchen staff. The restaurant owner and managers want to reduce onboarding time for newly hired employees so they can start working sooner.

Solutions: This eLearning module about food safety was developed for the restaurant to deliver to newly hired kitchen staff (chefs, line cooks, and dishwashers.) The module is available in English and Spanish, allowing employees to access the training in the language they are most comfortable with. The course teaches employees how to avoid cross-contamination through various interactions and knowledge checks. New hires can complete the module prior to reporting for their first day, shortening the in-person orientation process.

Results: The module is expected to reduce the amount of time new employees spend in onboarding.

How to Give Your Cat an Injection

Tool(s) Used in Development: Articulate Rise

Challenges: Virginia Cat Clinic, a veterinary practice, noticed an increase in clients booking injection appointments for the management of ongoing medical conditions. It is difficult to make time for these appointments in the schedule, as the clinic prioritizes more urgent appointments for emergencies and check-ups.

Solutions: The clinic requested a detailed yet straightforward learning solution that could be provided to anxious cat owners who lacked confidence in their ability to administer injections. This eLearning course was created for the clinic to share with pet owners. The course educates owners on the benefits of providing medication via home injection, safe needle handling and disposal practices, and the steps to give a cat an injection.

Results: The intended outcome is for the clinic to provide cat owners with the skills to administer shots on their own and reduce the number of appointments being made solely for injections.Â
